Work surface problem

We had a new work surface installed 2 months ago, just a regular B and Q one. Not cheap but not granite, just a regular middle of the range work surface. We used a carpenter to do the work, and he did an excellent job of the joins. However yesterday we noticed that the edge of the join near the sink is starting to lift away from the adjoining work surface. Only in one small area, amd is only noticeable when you put your hand over it. Is this a poor installation or just poor work surface quality? The carpenter (obviously) suggest the poor work surface, and we think it may have been installed too tightly as it is the middle work surface in the kitchen.
We purchased the work surface seperate, and he did not supply it, so is tricky to lay blame on either him or the shop.

It is very difficult to see. I only noticed it when I was washing down the work surface. It just would not come out i'm afraid.

if the laminate has lifted then you aint getting it flat again?
how much water have you left on the join?
i done a kitchen a few years back and the customer stood his kettle on the join on a metal plate.no problem in its self.until a few more questions and was told his missus just used to allow the worktops to have a layer of water on them and allow them to dry naturally,
so then asked me back to sort it out,er no dont think so.they ended up needing a new worktop.

I do not quite understand what you mean, but this part of the join certainly does not have any water sitting there, as although it is near the sink it is not close enough for any water to penetrate the join. Is this a problem with the fitting or the work surface though? If this is on a join, my first impression would be a poor seal at the time of installation.

I agree - sounds like it wasn't installed properly - not enough waterproof woodglue in the joint, or not completely covered all surfaces.

If you think you have caught the issue quite early, then you could get some ColourFill, and go over the joint with this to try and seal it up - I had to do this.
