Working Near Mains Equipment, This Is What Can Happen!

If that were the case, would not one have expected a 315A fuse to have operated fairly smartish
Nope as often the explosion blows the fault clear to an open circuit, you would be surprised the amount of damage that can be seen and still found to be live. This applies at higher voltages as we've had cases of badly damaged 6.6kV cables still live
Intreresting. That's a bit of a flaw in the concept of 'ADS', then!

Kind Regards, John

I wonder who invented such a dangerous system, whereby a thin cable is only fed from a huge fuse, giving no protection in reality??

Examples include a 4mm street lighting feeder tapped straight off a street main fused at 800amps, with no protection whatsoever.

street main fused at 800amps,

You know something I have never seen or heard of 800A fuses being used on mains in the street (even though they are available) the highest in general use would be 630A but more often 400A to better match the cable ratings in general use[/quote]
