Working out thermostat wiring

2 is a switched live not a perm live and it is connected to number 5 I believe when switch … if the switch is open it could be that they are using part of the stat, they may not require a open and closed circuit.

I have read through everything. For now, I'm going to try and change like for like on the broken one to make sure it works.

The thermostat that is working isn't wired to terminals 2 and 3, so I have no idea how it is.working (switching off demand). Unless terminals 1 or 4 are equivalent to 2.
