Worktop metal end caps

I've fitted a kitchen using B&Q 50mm thick laminate worktops, but now found that B&Q don't sell 50mm metal end caps.

2 questions:
- Anyone know where I can find them?
- Are they needed anyway?

I was intending to use them where my worktop buts up next to my range cooker with gas hobs because I remember being told by someone it was a requirement... but can't remember who said it now. Could I just use laminate ending strip next to a gas hob?

Just go with the laminate trim such as this here :

Thanks, it's looking like my only choice.

Concerned it may warp or melt over time though being next to the gas burner, esp as the worktops being extra thick 50mm the worktop does stand proud of the cooker top by about 15mm.
Cooker doesn't have adjustable height legs.

If anyone has any other thoughts let me know, ta.

Stand the cooker on a square piece of 18mm plywood?
