I'm told that my boiler has been fitted with a gas supply pipe 9mm that is too small, what is the recommended size for the Worcester boiler and how could the fitter get this wrong. It was a new pipe that was installed at the same time as the boiler.

The boiler appears to be working OK. So, What is the risk in leaving it as it is ?

Any advice appreciated.

You have not given us enough information.

The gas pipe sizes are 15mm, 22mm, 28mm and 35mm.

The size needed is calculated by the installer and depends on factors like the length and the number of fittings on the route. It also takes into account other gas appliances fitted on the same pipe.

The installer got it wrong because:-

1. He was not gas registered and did not know how to do it.

2. He was registered but did not bother.

3. He was registered but thought that if he fitted the correct size pipe it would be too expensive for you and you would have chosen another installer who was going to fit it with a cheaper undersized pipe.

There is normally no "9mm" gas pipe size.

Tell us the total pipe route distance from meter and number of bends and we will tell you the approximate size pipe which would be needed.
