I did that in 2005, it's still sat in a cupboard while I continue to use an older fuse board than the OP's
It's getting confusing (at least for me)! Not only have I been looking for a tab that everyone had been calling a notch, but I've also been looking at the MCBs themselves, not the 'base'.
However, that does not materially alter what I am saying - I have one B40 for which both the device and the base have tabs, and another which shows no sign of either device or base ever having had a tab!

So this one will accept a 45a next to the main switch only. Assuming coloured part has a tab.

I don't think you can really blame me. This all started when I read the quote from flameport which read ...
... which is why I had been looking at the devices (rather than bases), and looking for a notch (rather than tab).
I'd have to look to see what lines up BUT no that board is not designed to take a 45A device.
What makes you say that - the position next to the switch looks no different from any of the others to me!

Well on the first way, the bakerlite has a notch to the right of the second screw down.

Copper as thick as what was in those wylex boards can easily take 40 amps.
OK had another look and as already been said the notch is there and indeed the contacts are a different colour.
Amazing what a difference a pc screen makes over a phone
The cable entry holes are a lot smaller on the 30A ways though.
Too small for a 6mm?
