Hi, I am looking to fit the optional fire alarm, but I cannot find it in most of the diy stores, is this only available from Yale, also when activated does it sound a full alarm or what, as I don't fancy alarm sounding at 7am when my toast is overdone.

Yes it would sound a full alarm however it generates a different tone.

The normal alarm is a constants warbles whereas the siren when activated by a smoke sensor is a broken rythm sound also if you recieive telephone notification via a 6400 panel the message will say emergency rather than burglar.

You are unlikely to set the alarm of with burnt toast as the Yale sensor is an optical device which produces less false alarms.

Also think about where to position the sensor.

Not directly above your cooker or toaster for example but in the ceiling where you would imagine smoke would collect. Possibly near a corner leading to the hallway about 1 metre away from both walls. (The sensor needs to be where smoke will circulate and not a void area where still air would be trapped not allowing the smoke to pass the sensorl.
