Yellow dot stain on celing

Hi can anyone tell me what this is on my celing?.

Our house is only 5 yrs old, I'm decorating my bedroom for the first time and found this on the celing on my last patch.

Both walls are on external walls And we've never noticed it before.

Obviously it needs treating before I finish the celing.

Hi Johnd thank u for your reply, the stain is a very pale yellow.
We did have an issue with no ventilation bricks and the whole loft space was covered with black mould spores due to inferior materials used.
We had a mould specialist firm out to rectify everything.
But never noticed this at the time.
Everything is dry and treated now but may b this is residual from that?. What do u think?.

Hi Bettyboo, I’m Chris, not John. Make a light pencil mark around it and monitor it. If you have nothing near it like bathroom or heating then it could be damp from lack of ventilation.

How on earth did you jump to that conclusion?

As things stand, I would follow @CBW 's pencil advice. It may well be a leak from above

Clean water marks, for example on ceiling under a bathroom, are very often yellow or brown. I presume they pick up stain from dirt or timber.

Radiator leaks can be black.
