Hi all,

I have a potterton suprima which has started to make loud gurgling noises every time it starts and stops ( ie when we switch it on for hot water we hear a gurgling noise and when the boiler stops the heating we also hear it) Not 100% sure where the noise is coming from but it can be heard from all the radiators.

The problem started when i put a nail in a hotwater pipe.
A plumber drained the system and fixed the leake ( with solder).
he also did something with all the pipe work with by the hotwater tank.
We then had the noise occasionly.

Since then we had our annual british gas service and the engineer replaced the whole motherboard etc.
since then it now happens every time the boiler kicks in.

It sounds like air is in the system.
all the radiators ( except 1) have thermostatic valves.
I am going to switch off all the rads and then put the heating on so i can force the air to that that rad. I will then bleed that.
Though I am not convince that will help as it makes the noise when the central heating is switched off.

Are there any other bleed valves in the system I should try.

Sorry for the (long winded) ignorant post but If i can try the basics before spending fortune with a plumber

thanks in advance

I think there in lies the answer. Did he actually reconfigure the pipework,
Would appear your system is open vent and drawing in air.
