Zaffira doors not opening

A lady at work says that both offside doors won’t open , neither from outside nor inside
The rear one was first.
She has been sliding across to get out the other side but obviously it isn’t safe and would fail an MOT.

Any ideas?

I understand that they are prone to wiring issues but should it also deadlock?
On my suggestion, she can hear the motor or a clunk when hitting the remote.

I haven’t seen the car, she is driving a borrowed one.
I am more after suggestions to pass on as I am more a bike guy and don’t fancy taking door cards off from inside a car

I understand that it’s expensive if a dealer gets near it

What year is it?

Does driver door lock and unlock with key and/or central locking but then not open ?

For mot info...

Driver and passenger doors must open from the outside using the relevant control.

Driver and front passenger doors must also open from the inside using the relevant control

I think CU rules, insist that doors even deadlocked doors, must be openable from inside, even with no power - so a mechanical linkage. My doors deadlock as soon as my car moves, once deadlocked, from the inside, you just tug the door release twice to open it. If the car doors in question, cannot be released with two tugs from the inside, that suggests to me a problem with the linkage.
