Zafira b 2012 petrol high mileage, manual. This has electric controls for heater .
The heater blows but is permanently cold, there is very weak flow of air to the cabin vents , strong flow on windscreen. I've removed glovebox and accessed the blower motor and replaced the actuator as it was defective. However despite this it's still blowing cold so has nothing to do with the vent being open or closed. The two pipes carrying the coolant are both hot suggesting no blockages. I'm suspecting the heater motor is completely broke this will need to take out the whole dash to replace.
Any ideas of what else I can try before I have to do this ( good 8 hour plus job for an amateur like me ! ).

Thanks

If the blower is running on all speeds and the pollen filter is clean it sounds like the blending flap/actuator is faulty.
Remove the trim panels to the left of the clutch/brake pedal and you should see the actuators and mechanisms for the temperature blending and vent distribution.

Hi thanks for this. I have checked the blend flap and the actuator which moves the flap was faulty. However even when the blend flap is moved manually the air remains cold. ( On a side note the new actuator I bought on eBay also didn't move so likely has stripped gears too. ) . Unmoved the blend flap by hand when the fan was on and in no position did any hot air appear.

Ah so there are more actuators - the one I looked at was in the passenger side under the glove box. My apologies I misread your post. I located the blend flap on the heater motor itself ( large flap which opens and closes when actuator lever moves ). When I opened and closed this by hand the air remained cold - but it sounds like there's other parts I need to look at ?

Actually you helped me a lot here. I've just realized I've replaced the recirculation actuator and the part I need is , as you rightly stated , over the driver's side for access! Probably explains why the part I replaced didn't move when I changed heat settings ! You live and learn , thanks again

Indeed...recirc is on the blower.
It looks like the blend actuator is a 5 wire type. 2 wires on one side of the connector will be the motor. The other 3 are the potentioneter with the wiper the centre wire.
Straightforward to test with a multimeter.

Many thanks for your help I'll take a look
