Hi, and sorry if it's a noob question, but I'm looking for some instructions for replacing the Timer unit on our Washer/Dryer.

The timer needs replacing - it blew the appliance fuse and tripped the domestic circuit-breaker during a spin cycle, and you can see where it's blown both on the circuit board and by the deposit left on the plastic cover/shield.

Have had an estimate for replacement, but they can't get the part quickly, and I can also get it cheaper from espares (unless anyone knows somewhere even cheaper...), so am considering replacing it myself.

The only thing holding me back is not knowing how to get access to the unit to remove/replace it. I've seen on the forums that someone has done a timer replacement with this model, and someone else has offered to give instructions, so I'm hoping that someone will be able to give me some pointers on how to get proceed.

Thanks

After exploring a few blind alleys (like trying to take the whole faceplate off), I've finally got it sorted. Let's just hope I can reassemble it once the new Timer unit arrives.

For the record, here's what I did (ignoring the wrong paths):
- remove top and undo electrical connectors on timer (I've marked them to ensure I know which order they go back on)
- Now the unit is held in place by 2 screws, which are accessed from the front of the machine.
- prise the front piece off of the timer/programmer knob
- Remove bolt that's now exposed
- You can now remove/replace the main programmer knob, but take care as 4 pieces all need to line-up - timer, inner ring, dial and knob.
- Inner ring has 2 gaps, one of which is larger.
- Rotate so that program A is at 6-o-clock, Remove knob, and gap should be aligned to bottom retaining screw.
- Use care (and a magnetic screwdrver!) to make sure you don't lose the screw.
- Replace knob and rotate A to 12-o-clock. Remove 2nd screw.
- Timer can now be extracted. Note position of lugs (different one now at top).

HTH someone.

Yep, not bad. The facia does come off to make it much easier though.
Facia removal is a bit of a nightmare as it's clip together plastic.
