Zanussi zdt41 dishwasher not cleaning

Hi,

My zanussi dishwasher has stopped cleaning dishes. Water is hot but a residue is getting left on dishes. I cleaner filter and spray arms but still not working. I pulled out the dishwasher and noticed that there is a grey hose connected to white thing on top of dishwasher but not connected to anything at other end. Can anyone help?

No it's a vent pipe.

Residue is often down to lack of rinsing dishes before placing in DW.It’s not a waste disposal and pump slowly reduces food to a fine grit which is then left on dishes.

Had something similar on a 9 year old Whirlpool, found waste pipe almost completely blocked with what looked like washing tablet residue which was softish and easily removed after I took off the drain hose.
