Some Jews regard him as a bit of a con man, very charismatic but a con man all the same,to other Jews his behavior was regarded as blasphemous.

The penalty in Judaism for false prophecy is death, this why the Jews wanted Jesus crucified.

They didn't want him crucified, they called for him to be executed and handed him to the romans. The romans crucified him as this was their method not a jewish method.

Because they did not have the authority to execute anyone. Only the Romans had the authority to execute people.
