HI I'm new here, so if this questions been asked before please point me to it.
I want to install a built in oven and a ceramic hob. the oven can be run from a socket so thats ok but the hob is rated at 5.8Kw which I guess will need 6.0 cable to it, and the instructions aren't helpful, do I run a seperate feed from the consumer unit to run both of them or what?
can anyone help
Thanks
christoph

The hob will require its own feed from the CU, normally connected via a cooker control unit or an isolator to an outlet plate and to the hob.
It will need a 30A supply, the cable size will depend on how long the run is and how the cable is installed.
This work will be notifiable to your local authority building control under part p of the building regs.
