The crumbustion chamber?

its all swings and roundabouts ..........charging a guy 2k for 4 short days work this week............ because he charges himself out at 900 quid a day.

My plumber must think that I am very poor because he only charged me £40+ for fitting a gas hob. He probably pitied me because he realises that a 5 bedroom house can be expensive to run.
Seriously though namsag, do you always, or perhaps I should say often, cut the suit according to the cloth?

University students pay £9000 per year for their education whereas a gas fitter complains about spending £1000 every five years? Never met an educated one yet.

Were talking about after you've qualified. How many professions have to pay £1000 every 5 years to prove you know what your doing? Not many.

Half the people attending university nowadays aren't educated, a monkey can get into university now. I know a hell of a lot of people who got C's D's and E's at A-level who are now at university raking up tens of thousands of pounds of debt with little chance of a well paid job afterwards. I wouldn't judge someones level of intelligence on whether they went to university or not.

Talking about DIY'ing gas installation made me think, about the leisure industry and lpg.
I believe anyone can DIY lpg bottles in camping/caravanning/boat situations.

Do you need any qualifications to DIY lpg in a home situation, with bottles or with a tank?

Our caravan is on a site without a gas qualified warden. (Actually, there's no warden at all.   ) The two general purpose handymen who work there do connect gas bottles but, if anybody needed a boiler repair, they would get a gas engineer in from a site round the corner.

Great idea though about educating people to do diy gas work correctly. I'm sure you'd easily fit all the knowledge required into a small leaflet or quick 30 second advert on t.v. Great idea, why hasn't somebody thought of this before?

Finally, a gas bodger who recognises how easy it all is ... Hallelujah

There is no statutory requirement to hold any particular qualifications to do gas work in your own home, whether LP gas or otherwise.

That's why boilers come with fitting instructions. So why is there a CC forum?
