The latest anti-UKIP 'documentary'

I think I understand the detail of our politics and history, yet I often say 'Britain' when, to be perfectly correct, I should say 'The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland'. Bit of a mouthful, isn't it?

As above, just say 'UK'.

Your awareness that 'Britain' does not include NI is not in doubt. But your definition just makes my point. It is lazy and inaccurate to confuse it with the UK. For a politician to do so is just demonstrating incompetence, as would confusing England with Britain.
what about the Isle of Man is it part of Britain or the UK.

Strictly speaking, no. Neither are the Channel Islands.

So now we have 'The United Kingdom of Great Britain, Northern Ireland, The Isle of Man and the Bailiwicks of Jersey and Guernsey'.

Getting a bit out of hand, isn't it?

No.

That's probably why someone decided to call "Great Britain, Northern Ireland, The Isle of Man and the Bailiwicks of Jersey and Guernsey" - the UK.

Photosynthesis.

Actually, all this green-eco-global-warming-carbon-footprint stuff doesn't interest me in the slightest. It has become a major political tool without any real evidence to support it. It seems to me that many people are not happy unless they have something to worry about.

Or 'Britain' for short!

No!! NI is not part of Britain, that's simply wrong.

And IOM and Jersey are not even part of the UK , never mind Britain!

Honestly ,I can't see why people don't know what makes up their own country and take pride in this knowledge! (In your cases it is ignorance , not stupidity and that's not meant to be derogatory )

I blame the schools, this should be standard fare, surely ?

Does anyone here remember doing geography or history?

When are you standing for Ukip JBR?

Yes, but it doesn't matter if you ,as a GD user, don't use the correct term

However, if you set up a political party whose raison d'etre is to renegotiate international treaties and national sovereignty , it's probably important that you have a grasp of the basic details.

Such as which bits of land are included in the words you use to describe where you live.

Maybe if it did interest you, you would realise the evidence is there in abundance to support AGW.

UKIP is there for those deniers though. Those who ignore the evidence, who are happy to burn even more coal, and to hell with the consequences.

I realise it's pointless my arguing with you, but I'll just point out that whilst there are some scientists who claim that human intervention is causing 'global warming', there are others who maintain that any climate changes are purely natural phenomena that have been occurring for millennia.

Irrefutable evidence?

Clearly, you do not like UKIP and what they stand for, so don't get your knickers in a twist: just don't vote for them. There are plenty of us who will.

very many, with good research to support them.

A small number of eccentrics and nutters, with few if any genuine climatologists among them.

Similarly, the oil companies and lead trade spent years arguing that lead from vehicles did not cause brain damage in children. The fag companies and the advertising trade denied that fags were the major cause of lung cancer.
