Are you sure the new ball valve has been fitted correctly at the correct water level and is definetly shutting off?

Yes , a plumber changed the ball cran and readjusted it the next day after the ongoing problem continued.

The water is definately not coming from the ball crane.

It seems to be coming back in from the hot water feed at the bottom of the main storage tank.

You can check by trying to stop them each in turn. You should find you can stop the hot easily, but not mains cold.

I have tried to turn off each individual cold feed today buthe hot water nothing stops the water.

Only the old sure fire way off running the hot water tap (to reduce the water level in the storage tank) will stop it.

What next guys ?

No , I forgot about that.

I will have to go into the loft to turn off all the cold water to the bathroom (due to the tiled bath panel).

Should turning it off for 15-20 mins do the job ?

If so , I will try it when the water starts overflowing again.

It is mains water to the bath and You have a stopcock/valve to turn it off

It IS mains to the bath but if I turn off the stop cock , which is in the loft , will this cut off the water supply to the bath basin tap as well or does the bath generally have its own stop cock ?

The bath shower mixer is likley but a photo is helpfull, It should'nt have a cold watermain feed as its a mixer, is it one with two headds for the bath & a large knob for the shower temp. If u have an electric shower why do u need the bath shower mixer.

It is not a bath shower mixer , it is just a normal hot & cold mixer tap that is fitted to the bath.

That is why I have an electric shower.

if its just a bath deck mixer cant see it backflowing into attic unless the outlet was blocked
