Hi all

Thanks to you guys on here my alarm has been working fine for the past month.

In the past week though I've had two issues which may or may not be connected on my Premier 48 wired system.

- last week at 11pm downstairs only was armed, and the alarm triggered. I checked the logs in Wintex and the room in which the PIR detected motion didn't have anything obvious that could have caused motion, and the PIR is far from the radiator etc. It was very windy that day though, but I doubt this caused any draft.

- last night at the same time 11pm as soon as I pressed Part on the keypad the alarm started sounding (I have it set to quick arm so usually I press Part then Yes). Putting in the code didn't turn it off. I tried putting in the code on another keypad (which was just showing the time etc like normal) and that didn't turn it off either. Same goes when I tried to use the Keypad in Wintex - when I clicked on Keypad icon after connecting it said something like "Panel not ready".

Interestingly the original keypad still showed the message:
"Do yku want to Part arm:
DOWNSTAIRS ONLY"
(I didn't have my glasses on but I'm pretty sure it said said yku and not you - usually it says you obviously!)

I am guessing the two events are just coincidence that they happened at pretty much the same time. I'm more worried about the second one because it was a complete headache turning the sirens off in the middle of the night, so any suggestions would be appreciated!

11pm what is happening in your house?

Entering your code didn't silence the alarm?

Without seeing the full event log and programming can't say for certain.

Not being able to silence with a code, the keypads are responding properly.
The device is still active.
Power, when system is in alarm there could be a power drop so the keypads don't function.
Incorrectly programmed.

if the text is corrupted then somethings usually happened to the panel.

11pm the only possibility I can think of is maybe the hot water turns off... but that clearly isn't the cause of this!

Entering the code on any of the keypads made no difference. The displays were all frozen and none of the buttons seemed to have any affect. It was like the system had crashed. Not being able to load up the keypad in Wintex also points towards this I guess.

I'll take a screenshot of the logs later but from memory the last event before it crashed said armed from keypad 1, then the next items were all with a reset date and time after I had pulled the mains+battery to turn the thing off.

Have you ever known the panel to "crash" like this before?

No.

I have known interference, and large current draw affect the panel and how it responds.

Probably a stupid answer but I don't suppose one of the buttons could be jammed in on the keypad you were using???

Doesn't look like any buttons were jammed.

There is one battery connected sparkymarka (not sure where the original installer ranks on the messy scale!):

There's nothing that fits that description (at least that is visible)... just the 4 expanders next to the panel box

Ok how many devices on the system that are powered inc keypads , sounders , pirs ect

3 keypads
1 external bell
5 smoke detectors
2 door contacts
3 indoor sounders
26 pirs (of which 6 are external type)

If this is all ran off one PSU could it not be the power dropping which is causing the alarm to fail?

Lol ...no wonder ! If you have wintex ... What's it say in diagnosis ? How much Ma is it taking !

Oh dear...

under Diagostics > Control Panel > Zones & Outputs

System Voltage 14.00 V
Battery Voltage 13.80 V
System Current 1.197 A
