By link I mean the short piece of red wire between the two switches at the 2 gang switch.
MY APOLOGIES, I have listed too many wires. I have incorrectly listed an extra red wire.
So that should be
COM new red wire
L1 old red link wire and new yellow
L2 old black and new blue
Sorry again.

Yeah - and who needs to think that maybe, just maybe, it might be a bad idea to fiddle with electrics when you don't have the faintest idea how things work...
