freelander shaft

i have removed the dif/shaft that drives the rear wheels off a freelander as it was sounding quite rough and not needing 4x4 this time of year. amazing difference on fuel and doesn't sound as rough,was just wondering is this the wrong thing to be doing, any help appreciated

As the freelander is permanent 4WD you could do a lot a damage to the centre diff.

which diff do you mean as iv taken the center diff off the jeep,
