Hi all, thinking about getting into plumbing, just wondered what the going rate is for apprenticeships? Does it then increase the more experience increases? Thanks.
Finding a position is difficult. Whatever you do don't pay for a course yourself. if you can't get a position now you won't after youve paid for your own training. You'll just be poorer with no experience useful to an employer.
IIRC the minimum wage doesn't always apply to 16 - 18 yr old trainees.
Edit - Just checked the figures - the minimum is £3.40 for employees 16 - 18 yrs , £4.80 for 18 - 21 yrs and £5.22 over 22.
Apprentices under 19 do not qualify for minimum wage.
Apprentices over 19 do not qualify for first 12 months. http://www.berr.gov.uk/employment/pay/national-minimum-wage/index.html
