I contacted the plumber who installed it yesterday and they claimed that they must have forgotten to terminate the pipe but are coming back with a condensing pump and running it to the waste pipe.
It would be logical to think that this would be part of the estimate for the boiler replacement. This is how I would operate anyway, but then the job would be completed before the final invoice. Good to see they are coming back to finish off the job.
