Alpha CB50 Boiler exploded today

How many of your colleagues in BG have this? as a rough percentage.

Cheers

Steve

Everyone on our patch Steve, it has been a compulsory part of the training / apprenteceship programmes for at least 3 or 4 years aswell. It is down to an individual engineer level to decline working on the appliance if he is not qualified and send it back to the office to get someone qualified to attend. It also depends on the work being done as to wheather the unvented ticket is required.

Fair enough - thanks for that insight

1. The installation issue has only just been pointed to me - I have now arranged to get a G3 Ticketed guy out - he is just waiting for the part to arrive before booking us in.

i find that unsatisfactory, BG are still not liable for it though.

We have had persistent dripping from the overflow for the past 9 months with a number of visits from BG engineers - and it not being rectified satisfactorily

9 months? how many times have you phoned in that time to get it repaired?

As pointed out by Dangermouse - BG should have carried out a proper inspection of the system and pointed out any defects that needed to be rectifying before taking the system on.

as defined by your T+C's an inspection is not automatically done after 28 days. even if one was done the T+C's specifically exclude third party defects of any nature.

As far as I am concerned I have been paying BG good money for poor service. I think that it is compounded by the fact that we are on the Flexi. I do now believe that they do the barest minimum they can get away with - relying on the £50 fee each time.

irrelevant. the job type does not matter to the engineer. if you think you had bad service then you should have complained.

Basically what would the cost be to replace two PRV's and an expansion vessel compared to the £420 we have paid them and we still have water coming from the system.

on seperate jobs? not far off what you have paid.

Had a call from a manager - they can get an engineer out Saturday... Still going to go for the local Alpha guy though - will contact them first thing in tomorrow.

Just investigating Moneyclaim.gov.uk as to getting my money back via small claims....

Steve

fact is they have engineers on call 24hrs a day if need be, they just don't want to pay the overtime.

They are a shower of incompetent clowns and muppets!

please, like your shower could get round any quicker. the only bit you got right was the overtime rates you quitter.

claiming against BG for third party installation issues that caused damage, dont make me laugh.

As I've said before thickso, the good engineers leave ****ish gas and get a proper job leaving the dregs behind as the OP is now finding out. On the first visit any installation defects should've been noted and a quote issued to rectify them or the inspection failed.

dream on dangerlouse. they should be booting no hopers like you out long before you decide leave through laziness.

[removed] you wouldn't survive outside BG without everyone else to fit your misdiagnosed parts and follow you round completing your recalls. You just rely on the fact that there are so many incompetents you will blend right in. Hang in there for the pension though you old git, it's the only good thing about the job.

Approx 15% of BG staff are G3 certified. Speaks volumes really.

utter nonsense. cant think of a single guy here who doesnt have it. all new guys get it as standard.

A local service guy to our area I spent a day with when I quized him on the unvented cylinder at a job said " I haven't got unvented not many of us have, you'll be poplular" I says what about lpg "oh quite a few have lpg" what about warm air "oh they all have warm air." So it must be area dependant.

The all have warm air thing is a conundrum, privately I haven't had a sinmgle warm air job since shelling out £350 for the qualification, and I'll defo drop it next time. Bg look after quite a few warm air installs but since their guys all ave warm air they won't need me for it. Only one other contractor has it apparently. Privately it is a DODO

Yet unvented is springing up all over the place, and as soon as you escape the towns you encounter lpg. The huge number of colleages based in tows surrounded by villages who don't have lpg are winging it. Sure they go to lpg jobs. That's why I had to get the qualy, kept turning up to fix a boiler only to fin it ws lpg. Fixed a couple got guilty conscience and got the training.

er no louse, i fit my own parts, my recalls are below average and most of the guys round here are decent engineers. i wont be here for the pension either.

keep on kidding yourself louse, its amusing.

of course its area dependant but 15%? dont believe it, he picked that out of thin air. i would imagine LPG is entirely dependant on the amount of LPG contracts. almost all of our guys have it but we have a lot of rural areas to cover. unfortunately we also have stacks of warm air garbage to deal with.

dont see the point. VO it and move on to the next job.

Paul Barker is right in that an engineer qualified with unvented is highly sort after in some areas, but then again Paul is honest. Thickso is dillusional and still thinks bg do a good job despite the fact they are largely ex double glazing salesmen trained to use a telegan and nothing else. The company is run by muppets with clowns for engineers. Wake up thickso and smell the coffee.

Sitting on the fence here, I have always found the BG guys on here are very knowledgable, but then any large organisation is going to have to carry dead weight morons, even Group Service DM.

I unfortunately have had first hand experience of this with 2 that sadly cover my area.

If you don't believe me ask Keith Mathers and Shaun Bug, I have met both of them to air my grieviences and now apparently have a 'bad name' in group service circles.

The fact that anyone takes the time to post on here is usually evidence of their committment to the job. (All that is except the dangerouse buffoon BB  )

So just to remind us danger where did you do your what qualifys for an apprenticeship nowadays ,how many years did you then work for them and if you where that sh#te when you left them why did someone give you a job or where you the exception

Dave you are well known and your famous groupservice slanging on this site has by seen by most of the firm.

I was the exception, like an oasis in the desert. Most but not all bg are useless ****s like thickso. You defend them often but yet you still left them yourself? If they are as great as you say why don't you still work for them Victor Meldrew?
