Fluctuating shower temp

Hi,

We have a 2 year old Halstead Ace (or Ace High, sticker has come off the front and it's too high for me to see, mad builders having re-fitted it 8 feet high) combi boiler and an old Mira Express power shower upstairs.

We had a major rebuild in the summer involving the removal of the power shower pump. We'd stopped using it when the new boiler went in because the pressure made it as efficient as if the pump was still there.

The problem is the shower temperature fluctuates. It seemed ok at first, then we had a minor problem with the boiler which the plumber sorted, now we can't seem to get an even temperature. Taps are all fine. I realise we need a thermostatic valve, but does anyone know if one is available for this shower? And would it just be easier to fit a new shower suitable for this boiler?

Is the shower cold supply taken from the mains, or from a tank?

Er, yes I did, in the 1st paragraph! A Mira Express power shower.

I apologise unreservedly - I misread "removal of the power shower pump" and didn't see the word "pump".

So, the problem is that the Mira Express outlet temperature is at the mercy of the combi output rate and other usage in the house.

And it's a combi boiler, so no tank.

Having a combi doesn't mean that you don't have a tank, hence the question.

I thought the Mira Express contained a pump, which would make it entirely unsuitable for mains/combi fed supplies. If yours doesn't have a pump then perhaps you could post a picture of it with the cover removed.

And before some smart ar*se requests a picture of the OP with her cover removed - just don't.

We had the pump removed (actually the electric supply to it) during some building work in the summer as the new boiler made the pump redundant and we weren't using it. The mains pressure is good so we have been using the shower just as a mains fed shower, so the shower temp controls the amount of hot/cold mix. I suspect that it can't cope and so we'll need either a new shower or a new thermo valve for it.

Any idea if there is a valve that will fit it? Most suppliers say this is now obselete, so it's a long shot, I know.
