Hi,
a pal of mine has bought a reclaimed carpet for a normal double size bedroom in her flat. She says it's in good condition..

I've done just about everything but carpet- I know it's not easy & it should be stretched using the gripper tool but not ripped..!

Questions is, does it always need stretched?
What would happen if it was just laid (onto underlay) and cut to size at the walls?
Would it cause problems like wrinkle when vacuumed or would it be OK?

Also, general tips on laying it would be very welcome!
other than don't lay a 2nd hand carpet..! :)

i think that if it is not stretched and tensioned it will ruck up. having tension allows the grippers to work better too.

second hand carpets have little elasticity left to allow stretch either.

cutting the carpet is not as easy as it looks either.

good luck.
