When they say 'Quantitive easing' instead of print more money you know that it's probably a load of 'Keek', another one is 'unconventional measures' which means we have tried everything else, so lets try this and see what happens, they are like quack doctors.

wasn't the fish picture a mickey take of Geoffrey Howe the then chancellor of the exchequer in Maggie Thatcher's Conservative government?

Printing money is not the answer, unless it's backed up by gold reserves, it will only dilute the money already in circulation.
We all know who sold off our gold reserves at rock bottom price, the same person who has said he will recover excessive pensions paid to 'fat cats'
Gordan Brown should look at his own competance, before he tries to attack others, he could not manage a sweetshop.

Totally agree Wotan.
Also prepare yourselves for huge tax hikes. (Which will ultimately strangle any chance of recovery)

I can't see how the slide into a 30s style (or worse) depression can be halted. The country is bust. They even call London 'Reykjavik on the Thames'. Pensions are worthless, negative equity is rife, unemployment will rise by the million, local government will collapse. Too many people, too few resources. Soup kitchens are in the wings.

Is not printing money the same a "shipwrecked man drinking sea water", it works immediately to ease the problem then kills latter??

All this country's assets have been pi*sed against the wall!

How many billions have gone into the illegal invasion of Iraq?
How much is being paid out to asylum seekers and illegal immigrants, who contribute nothing to this country.

About five years ago, good old Bernie Ecclestone predicted that Britain would be a third world country within ten years. I hope he's wrong.

You really don't have to be a rocket scientist to realise the welfare state will collapse one day. Leaving potentially millions of people that will riot and loot to survive.
Legions of people that have given nothing (ever) living off the backs of you and me is criminal. Taxes will rise very high in future years leaving those that work hard feeling much worse all round!
The people at the Top get protected by their pals in government, the low life at the bottom get a free existence. The idiots (you and me) in the middle work our ba*ls off supporting the first two groups!!
My wife works for the NHS and tells me about the money problems it faces daily and its unsustainable.

Yes I know this thread is about printing money, but this is closely connected.
Its SUNDAY and I am off to WORK because I have to??

It's not the dole scroungers doing the damage - it's the pensioners.

80% of the NHS budget goes on the over 65s. They all live into their mid 80s drawing a pension.

The Baby-boom generation are just about to retire. Who's going to pay for that lot now their pensions have evaporated?
