hi

just finished installing the vanity unit and waste pipes in our bathroom. Now i need to fix the sink to the wall so the tiler can come and tile up to it an seal around it,

The holes in the back of the casting, are near enough impossible to get a screwdriver on so what do you professional guys do? is there a simple solution??

cheers :D

Could get an angled/stubby/flexible screwdriver.

If not, just use silicone

got a stubby - could use that

silicone - would this be ok?? would some sort of grab adhesive be better?? just dont want to risk anyone pulling it away from the wall which would be hard to do but you never know!!

cheers

Silicone will be fine, aslong as its given plenty of time to dry :)

But get screws in if you can

cheers david :D

would it make a difference if i say it is against a plasterboard wall, but sits upon a vanity unit. the holes in the casting done line up with the wooden verticles of the wall so can i drill new holes in the correct place through the casting or will i crack it??

cheers

I wouldn't risk drilling the basin. :?

And normal screws will do nothing in a plasterboard wall (you probably already know that)

If it's sitting on the unit, just use silicone 8)

don't drill it , it will break.
are these holes about the size of a 5p ?

maybe just two tiles, who knows.

Remove section of plasterboard from wall and fit a wooden noggin behind where the fixings for the sink need to be. Reattach the plasterboard and tidy up around the edges a little (no need to be too fussy if you're tiling) and then have the tiler go behind the sink, otherwise it'll look carp. Finally, buy a fixing kit with hex head screws that will allow you to use a spanner to tighten.
