newbie installing new shower - advice please

Hi:
i'm moving into a house over the next couple of weeks and I'm inexperienced and willing to learn in DIY. One of the things I'm going to do in the new house is to install a new shower.

I'll take feeds from the current hot and cold feeds to the bath, bury the piping in the wall above and install a mixer shower - I'm looking at a combi boiler system.

However, i have a couple of questions that I just can't get my head round:

What piping should I use from the bath feed to the shower? Can I just get 15mm copper piping, connect it to the bath inlet with these:

And then extend pipework up to the shower mixer (probably using another couple of elbows to bring it out of the wall at the top?

I intend to bury the pipework in the solid wall ( i will use a chaser to cut out channels), so I will put plastic pipe, then duck tape, then denso tape, then expanding foam around the copper piping before tiling the wall.

Then I'll mount the shower mixer using a standard backplate to fasten to the wall.

Please post your thoughts - what have I missed? Is it that simple?

you can use the conex fittings if you wish not my choice.
15mm from the bath feeds will be ok if running off a combi.

you don't need to use all that to cover the pipes in the wall.

forget the expanding foam.

what shower are you fitting a bar mixer ?

haven't bought the shower yet but yes we were thinking of something like a bar mixer.

How would you advise I cover the pipes and fill the channel in the wall?

What fittings would be your choice please? I have no experience in any types of fittings as yet. I could really do without having to solder.

What is the mixer likely to need to be connected to its inlets? Possibly some sort of flexible hose at the top of the pipe?

i prefer copper soldered. but as you say you can use plastic.
forget the expanding foam.
plastic will be ok on its own, but i useally use conduit.

i prefer compression after solder fittings.
then you can always take them apart.

don't use flexi hose in a wall your asking for trouble.

you can use one of these

or you can use the dog leg fittings that come with bar mixers.
that use a 1/2" wall plate.

i always back fill using browning. not expanding foam.
