im looking to replace my manual thermostat (old honeywell) in the hallway to a newer digital type, but im unsure what i should be getting.
We have a Potterton Performa 28 combi boiler, which has an inbuilt timer system. i would like the ability to set the timer from the new thermostat, but im unsure how this would work with the existing timer system on the boiler.
would it work if i picked up a 7 day thermostat timer to work along my existing boiler?
i was looking at the following:

Thanks for that, funny you mention that..im a computer science graduate :)
im looking for the ability to set different times for the weekend compared to weekdays. i dont think that one offers that?

The 9400 is an two channel timer which lets program heating and cylinder times independently, but does not include a thermostat.

I tend to use the Siemens REV24 which is a very nice bit of kit, very accurate (0.2 degrees) very easy to program, and easy to read.
It allows up to 5 different periods per day in 10 minute sections, with any temperature between 5C and 30C, and each day of the week can be completely different. Most people find 3 bands per day ample.

There is a wired version that you can use to stick the new one in the exact same place as the old one, or a wireless version which would allow you to move it to the lounge.
It does make sense to most people to use the more versatile controls we have today to keep the room where you spend most time comfortable, rather than the hall.

More extensive info on this in FAQ and WIKI

How did you pass your exams if you dont read the instructions?

I think that you can program it for several different changes each weekday if you must !
