Block Paving - Need to seal it or not ?

I've just had a new block paving drive put down. The builders never even mentioned sealing it. They're very good and have done an excellent job, so I'm surprised if they haven't mentioned sealing it if that's necessary.

Would it be a good idea to seal it ? Would clear seal change the appearance of the drive or not ? .

may well change the appearance. no need to seal it, the majority of driveways arent sealed

I have just spent all day sealing my drive (160 sqm), I'm really chuffed with the job. Only problem is that after about an hour post 2nd coat the heavens opened. I now have a few blocks showing a milky white stain. Does anyone know if this will dissappear or will I have to remove the seal from the offending blocks and reapply?

I'm a DIYer with a block paved drive.... which wasn't sealed, but has been fine and weathered well.... and still looks good a year later.

I'm a DIYer with a block paved drive.... which wasn't sealed, but has been fine and weathered well.... and still looks good a year later.

I had my patio done about 10 years ago in "Brindle block" I have spent hours each summer clearing out the new growths of grass the appear in the thin gaps. The colour has also faded over the years compared to the new blocks at the front. I have sealed mine mainly to retain the colour and to create a barrier so that grass/weeds and moss can't get a foothold. IMHO I think that we are faced with one of two choices, either seal every 3 or four years, or pressure wash and resand every year or when needed.
