Apologies if this has been discussed before but could not find answer when looked.....

A couple of weeks ago, started getting woken up by "what can only be described as" water filling. Last night , for example, 1.45am then at 6am. lasts for about 10 seconds or so. The sound is like a toilet filling after the initial flush but not as long etc.

Presume nothing to do with boiler / tank as all off at night.
Do not hear during the day (but does not mean it doesnt happen then as well (too many noise around during the day etc!!)

House is a new build - 4 years old

I did change tap mechanism a couple of weeks ago but could not see hoe this could be related.

Any help appreciated as loud enough to disturb sleep each time.

Thanks

Steve

Do you have a fridge with ice dispenser? These automatically fill the ice tray several times a day, and take about ten seconds to do so.

Check the loo(s) for water trickling into the pan?
John :)

Thanks -- will look into it (literally)
If water is trickling...then that would explain loo(s) needed to refill.....What would be the best cure if this is occuring?

Thanks in advance
Steve

It means a new flush valve, Steve....its only the old syphon ones that tend to behave themselves. Identify yours from toiletspares.co.uk or maybe the Screwfix catalogue.
John :)

Have you got a water softener? They shouldn't be recharging that frequently, but if it was faulty it might.
