Baxi duo tec 28he E133 boiler error

Hi im a pro gas installer and not long ago fitted a duo tec 28he for a customer. It worked fine for 2 months then started to sometimes say E133 I have fixed boilers with this problem before (gas supply, flue damage or blocked condence) but these were not the problem. Heat team came out and played with the boiler. He said that the gas valve was wrongly set up and that I sould have adjusted it as the installer. But I was under the impression that the gas valves were factory set and that only heat team could adjust it. Also it was gas rated on instalation and was bang on. Any input? Also he changed the PCB?!?

deleted- too much gas work related information.

repost in CC where we can post more fully

I'd have to ask why he changed the PCB if it was only the gas valve setting that was wrong.

 Was going to say great minds think alike but that may be unfair on you.

Majority of time with E133 it's either working pressure or if not then ignition electrodes. Never had to change a PCB for ignition lockout on a Duotech.

Don't read too much into the PCB though. Heateam coming down heavily on engineers about their figures which inevitably leads to them changing parts where only a vague possibilty of fault may exist.

I'll take that as a compliment, but if it's meant as an insult..........balls to you

The heaty team man said he replaced the pcb as a precaution. I was wanting to know though if he was right to say I sould have adjusted the modulating gas valve? The job was for a friend and he's now taking the p*** saying I installed it wrong! I was under the impression that you could not adjust the valve as it was factory set? Is that wrong?

The MIs seem to say you can check the gas rate, but it is factory set and cannot be adjusted, so I would agree with you (assuming you gas rated it)

It was gas rated twice once when it was installed and again when the fault started.

I've always set these gas valves up myself.

You have to set them to the correct co2 ratio with your FGA, as most new condensing boilers. I've also had to re-set/commission occasional warmfront installations that have had these fitted around here, after the customer lost confidence in the so called 'installer'.

You can also gas rate it as well.

I've only ever had about 2 or 3 boilers that had the setting spot on out of the box.

It doesnt mention anything about flue gas analysers in the MI's merly that the valve is factory set and to carry out a gas rating

All zero govenor condensing boilers should be set/checked using a FGA.

Baxi training course was very specific about setting the co2 ratio during commissioning.

It's under section 13.1, page 36, under servicing in the MI's about setting and adjustment.

Commissioning just states the burner pressure is not adjustable, as with all zero govenor boilers.

Manufacturers stating that a gas valve is factory set, should always be taken with a pinch of salt

I used to work for a big plumbing firm who does 1000's of installs each year we were never asked to calibrate the gas valves. Isnt there a course you have to go on to be able to use the FGA's?

did a FGA on duo tec yesterday - co2 7% C01876 PPM!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ratio was way over the limits! was playing with new Anton V2. remedial action required.

Note 2: Regulation 26 (9) requires that where a person performs work on a gas appliance the following checks shall be made:

The effectiveness of any flue
the supply of combustion air
Its operating pressure or heat input or, where necessary, both
Its operation so as to ensure safe functioning.

would this come into force on a installation?
