programme new focus key?

just installed new door lock set to a 2000 reg ford focus. was told by ford dealer where I bought door lock set from that they would need to programme the new key to the car. can i do this myself or would i be better of finding another garage to do this other than ford as they are extortionate. thanks

iirc its either fords to program the pats chips to the car or a decent mobile locksmith with the correct software.

why not remove the chips from your old keys and place them in the new ones.

Did you replace the ignition barrel too?
Are you trying to program the central locking or immobiliser?
