Many years ago, I worked for a while in Sale, oop North.

My colleagues kindly invited me to their local pub, near the prison, where they sat round in their cloth caps, whippets at their feet, eating Bury pudding and drinking sweet brown beer, and introduced me to the game of dominoes.

I recently found a set, and have forgotten what you are meant to do with the half-blank and the double-blank ones. Who can remind me?

I can't remember much about the rest of the game either.

why is it no help? By the time you've got a reply on here you could have learnt how to play several variations of the game. maybe you just like waiting for replies on a forum, does it make you feel wanted? :D

maybe we should replace this site with http://tinyurl.com/24qjd8w[/QUOTE]

er not really as there's many different ways of doing DIY and many pitfalls that are not always covered, as well as constantly changing products. Getting information from a pro can be highly beneficial.

Whereas the blanks and double blanks in dominoes can only be used the same way ever since the game was invented

You just play the blank as normal, half blank is the same as any other dominoe really. The double blank is the same, just a normal dominoe with no spots!

The idea is to try and leave the blank and avoid playing it, if you have no choice you have to play the double blank

The person with the highest pair starts the game.

My grandad and dad where dominoe fanatics  I use to try and play them and could never beat them, they always seemed to know what dominoes other players had, its a pretty hard game to play really, my grandad was the town champion for years running. I used to go to the local on Sundays and watch the matches, it was a right laugh because its taken so serious........some of the older players used to put their finger on the double blank when mixing the dominoes, used to cause a riot

my g'dad was a Cribbage man, wouldnt have given you tuppence for a dominoes set :p
