The missing £1

there IS no missing pound, it's just the wording that's wrong..

cost of the room is now £25.
the manager adds a £2 "pocket comission" bringing the total to £27.. which is £9 each..

Or.........

Cost of rooms was £9 each =27. Each guest says "dont worry about it" and gives each of their pound refunds back. 27+ the 3 back is the original 30.

Receptionists earns £2 out of thin air...

So how much did the couples eventually pay ?

coz if they started off by paying £10 each and got £1 each back I dont care what anybody says, at school I was taught 3x9 =27 + the 2 the receptionist has = 29

they paid 27, but they're in deficit for 27, so it's a minus.. therefore add on 2 equals -25, not 29...... and -25 equates to the +25 the hotel has...

I think tomorrow I will go to the bank and withdraw 30 pound coins, number each one and actually do it to see where the pound goes. :P

Pleased to see it caused a bit of confusion
as imamartian said there is no missing pound, but my, it does cause some headaches.
