I've always liked the idea of someday building, or having built for me my own house, until recently its always seemed so far away and a pipe dream but me and the mrs will be coming into some money soon, like in a year or two's time and i thought now would be a good time to let her know my dream.

I remember watching some time back an episode of Grand Designs where a young couple wanted to settle in a village where they were bought up but couldn't afford to buy..............so they built!

Here's the link, you guys will probably remember it.......

From the moment i saw this house i saw the exact style of house i always wanted, to the last detail to the point of being spooky. The mrs has always lived in cottages and loves the country life so i showed her this house and she fell head over heels in love with it, once her feet were back on the ground she asked 'yeah but how much', yes there is a cost on the website of £130,000 but most of the build was done by family so they would have got it loads cheaper, but the question is how much cheaper, a rough figure to the nearest 10k?

Anyway, what are your thoughts on the house, like it....Yes/No?

I like it because i like old on the outside but modern inside, something that looks old but has modern workings inside and this i think fits the bill perfectly and would be MY dream house.

LOL .... do you two ever talk?

You'l be in trouble if it's not her dream too - have you got a pre-nup contract or else you may have to half the dream

Anyway, if its your dream, then build your house to your design. 90% of the houses on grand designs are crap and oddball to viewers, but their owners love them - and that's the idea
