30 Year old boiler replacement

I just knew it would be a secret. Welcome to the Magic Circle.

Then why's yours a secret too? Were you aware the UK is a free market economy and you could've shopped elsewhere instead of paying that for a PCB change? Or did the engineer force it from you with menaces? Or is your story, as I suspect to be the case, a complete fabrication?

I'm not obliged to read all the sh*t you write.

So if you wouldn't 'pay some crook' it means 'some crook' didn't get that 'sort of dosh for 20mins work'.

It wasn't my post. It was someone else's post. You do talk drivel.

I'm sure if you write it you sure as hell talk it. :p :p :p

What you have to remember is that Gas-Safe/CORGI are nothing more than a cartel whose main aim is to keep its members income up.

They all stick together like the Magic Circle. :p

What nonsense !!

It is rare that a 'nice little earner' turns out to be so nice. Seems that with plumbing there is almost always some kind of plot thickening complication. We're not talking about lucrative conversions and new-builds of the 1990's. Overheads and regs etc do make it less likely that a large quote ends up in your pocket.

joe 90, you have joined your own magic circle, the arseh0le club along with the op, we are all overpriced idiots that you lot are happy to take information for free, but when you get critisized in one way or another, we turn out to be a rip off bunch of elitists, we do have to adhere to certain regulations by law, in being members of a regulatory body, it does push our costs up and opens a black market for illegals, members of the public often do not want to pay our wages to adhere to these regulations and in doing so we safeguard peoples safety, they go by underbudgeted costs seen on daytime tv by some ex model and ex car dealer that say a new boiler change should cost a tenner, maybe you could send them a application form for your magic circle

I know a number of plumber/gas fitters. They double their prices when gas is mentioned because they can get away with it. What's your hourly rate then? Will you tell us? (He won't).

If you don't know their hourly rate how can you tell they've doubled it? If they don't tell the customer their hourly rate how can they get paid?

Please tell us more about the 'number of plumber/gas fitters' you know who double their unknown rate when gas is mentioned. And how you calculate their doubled rate without knowing their non-gas rate.
