Doing up bedroom, boarded/skimmed ceiling, old plaster walls

Doing up bedroom...
Just had ceiling boarded and skimmed by plasterer. The walls, which are old (grey) plaster (1880s house), are not going to be skimmed. Wallpaper was stripped off before the ceiling was boarded...
Now I'm planning to remove the remaining distemper from the walls, wash, make good, prime and paint. Just lacking a little confidence:does this sound right and is there anything I should watch out for? Also, the plasterer taped the wall/ceiling angle but only skimmed over the tape on the ceiling. He said to cut the tape on the wall and caulk the angle. Again, anything I need to look out for with this? Would it be better to easi-fill over the tape on the walls rather than cut it? Do I need to mist coat the ceiling first?

Def mist coat new plaster ceiling and your guy shouldn't have left tape in teh edges if you're going to cut it. It's not going to perform any function if cut in the corner. I taped up some edges like this before and the plasterer removed it and just bedded the plaster into the corner and it never cracked
