Plumbing in a shower help needed - 15mm pipe to this fitting

Hello,

I've just bought a new mixer shower. My pipework coming out of the wall is 15 mm and I need to be able to find a fitting which will then screw around the fitting in the picture which I believe is 22mm and form the seal. Is this possible?

Its a bent male copper/iron

You need to insert a 15mm pipe with a nut and olive on and insert into the fitting. The nut will then tighten onto the thread with the ptfe on and compress the olive and form a seal.

But the 15mm pipe is too small? Will I need to extend the pipes that come out of the wall?

Are you saying that you haven't got enough pipe coming through the wall? Or that the pipe is too small for the fitting?

I've got enough pipe coming out of the wall. The pipe is only 15mm and the hole in that fitting is a lot bigger

That case you have a 22mm x 3/4 copper to iron. You'll need a 15mm x 1/2 bent male copper to iron.

Little difficult to tell what size fitting you had by the photo mate.

Can you replace the fitting you have in your hand for a 15mm fitting?

Ie a 22 to 15 fitting?

But the bottom half of that then needs to screw into the shower, so will that still work?

What you appear to be holding in you photo is a Bent Male iron to copper fitting probably 22mm x 3/4". The simplest converter is a 22mm x 15mm compression reducer kit made up of three components, The bigger insert goes into your fitting first followed by the olive and lastly the thinner insert. All three components fit snugly together held in by the original nut (not shown in your picture). You could use a smear of jointing compound too. All should cost about £1
