I need some help if possible please.
The story starts with a broken toilet handle................
So we pull on the metal hook for now until we get new handle.
The white stick inside with the hook on it had snapped & disappeared down inside the mechanism.
Went next door to local building supplies & they give me a complete new syphon mechanism & Ballcock mechanism, as the existing one was very old & mucky.
So, I turn water off & drain the cistern down by hand.
Take cistern off & replace the whole lot of the insides with new stuff.
This includes a bung where the overflow pipe used to be, as the new syphon thing has built in overflow into the pan.
Also came with a push button rather than a handle.
Turn water on.
Manually lift ballcock & fill toilet up.
Flush.
Oh, it fills ALL the way up to the top, then slowly drains away.
It doesn't remove waste in the loo either, like toilet paper etc as the suction is not strong enough.
Not good.
So I think we may have a blockage.
Try hot water down the pan first.
Doesn't fix it.
Tried shoving a coat hanger down the pan & into the waste pipe.
Doesn't fix it.
Tried caustic soda down the pan with hot water.
Again, hasn't solved it.
So thinking maybe we don't have a blockage.
Go back next door to building supplies.
They give me a new syphon that looks similar to the old one I used to have.
Drain down cistern again.
Remove syphon & replace with another new syphon, with rectangle plunger as like old one.
Fit new handle.
Try flush again, same as before.
Fills all the way to the top of the pan, then slowly drains away.
Again, it doesn't remove waste in the loo either, like toilet paper etc as the suction is not strong enough.
So, now still thinking we may have a blockage somewhere.
But where?
Anyone have any ideas what else I can do?
I can provide pics of the new syphon that used to be in the loo, & the one that is in there now if required.
Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
