What wire for outdoor lighting through a transformer?

I have bought a set of four garden lights with 8 watt bulbs for the garden and they run through a transformer. I would like to extend the wire to place them at the bottom of the garden. I never touch mains electricity powered connections but I think that as these are low wattage items it would be allright.
Could someone please tell me what wire/cable I need to ask for?

I assume there the 12v type that you put together and clip on the wire? You should use this type ( http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav.j...ight&fh_eds=ß&fh_refview=search&isSearch=true ) from B&Q, they will sell a suitable connector as well. This needs to be added onto the low voltage side of the transformer (which needs to be kept in the house). Don't touch the mains wire of the transformer.

You need to work out what the voltage drop will be for the longer run.

And if you're in England or Wales, unless this lighting set is designed to have the cable extended, modifying it will make the installation of it notifiable.

How many meters cable is included in the kit & how much extra would you need to reach the desired location?

Jameeee is right to wave ared flag.

If you have a long cable to the lights then they will be dim, or (at best) dimmer than the others.
