Going to have a go at making a coffee table from railway sleepers and I would be grateful for any suggestions at to how best to join this size of timber together so that it is strong and secure.
Clearly whatever method I use needs to be neat and out of sight, but also very secure.
I did consider something similar to the bolt system used to join kitchen worktops together but they would probably be a bit ugly, out of sight though, so may still be an option
This is just a project because I fancy having a go nothing more!
Have used the search but could only find info on outdoor projects which wasn't suitable.
Any tips would really be appreciated.
Thanks
John

You don’t want to be using real or reclaimed railway sleepers for a coffee table especially in the house, they are heavily impregnated with creosote that will cause problems with toxic smells which could be carcinogenic & may cause breathing difficulties for some. Use new, non impregnated oak sleepers.

Thanks for that, yes I'm getting new sleepers so no problem there.

I found mine too heavy to move if joined, I use strips of velcro under to prevent movement and find it very secure due to the weight involved, also makes moving it that much easier.
