Hi,

I intend to have my bathroom done and in the process of investigating the best way to go about it.

I want to put in a thermostatic mixer shower has I am being quoted a lot of money to get an electric shower fitted due to difficultly of running a earth wire to the fuse box.

It has been brought to my attention that the 117 litre hot water tank we currently have once fitted with a pump will empty in less than 10 minutes!

There are 4 of us in the house that pretty much need to shower back to back so this is a major issue.

I have been investigating the option of putting in a 200 litre. Will this meet our requirements? If so, how much will it cost to rip out the old one and install the bigger tank?

It is a gravity system with the cold tank in the loft which is being heated by a Worcester that was installed in our loft about 2 years back.

If the above set up will not work is there another option or way round this issue?

Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated as I am finding it very difficult to ensure I source all the correct bathroom materials and get it all set up to optimum levels without blowing the budget.

Cheers
Jazz

We don't give cost advice on here as we can't see the job, for quotes get some reputable local companies in.

A 200-litre cylinder would certainly be an improvement, especially if you get a fast-recovery one. Have you considered an unvented cylinder?

Fair enough as I appreciate every job is different.

What benefits will an unvented cylinder bring?

The 200L indirect grade 3 hot water tank is kicking in around £300. I can't really afford to pay hundred more unless the benefits are really justified.

Thanks for your help!

According to a lot of research I have done a 200L hot water tank might not do the job and when you put the parts and labour costs together it will probably be advisable get an electric shower fitted.

Should I give up hope or is there a way around my problem?

Not sure how anyone will be able to run a wire from the shower to the fuse box!

Fun and games hey.....
