China think a mountains height includes the snow.... well i'm 6'10" (with a top hat on !!)...

China thinks it should be measured by rock height. Nepal thinks it should be measured by snow height. The difference is around 4 metres.

Ok - not bothered really - the source i quoted says this "Nepal measures by rock height, while China adds snow height,".

You obviously have a different source. I'm not gonna argue the t055 over it.

The Himalayan country has continued to recognize the decades-old measurement of 29,028 feet (8,448 meters) though Western climbers and China have made new claims.

The government decided last week during its annual budget speech to take the new measurement, Land Reforms Ministry spokesman Gopal Giri said Wednesday. The plans are being formed this week and the work will take two years.

It will entail placing a device on the peak that will measure the height using satellite technology, he said. Stations will be set up in three locations using the global positioning system.

An American expedition in 1999 said it used GPS satellites to determine the peak to be 29,035 feet (8,850 meters), a height which is widely used now.

China, which is straddled by Everest's northern slopes, says the peak is 29,008 feet (8,844 meters) high."

erm, where did you PROVE me wrong there? My source is different to Tonkas sources admittedly... but how the **** do you KNOW which is right? i'm not going to do a sample of 100 websites to proves my source is correct....do you?

as for "whining" thats your opinion.... but i don't like people hijacking a thread on page 1 or 2.... it's against the rules and rude!! but that's about your level isn;t it?
