Hi,

Not sure if I should have posted here or in In The Garden.

I have a water sphere with 4 led's, both have stopped working, the power supply to the transformer is fine and the cable from the transformer to the sphere is buried, the connections under the sphere are also fine. I have looked for a replacement transformer but the lowest I can find 12 va, the original is 6.5 va, would it be safe to use this or could I damage the pump and led's.

Many thaks

Keith

Please note that there are two basic types of LED transformer: constant current and constant voltage:

A constant voltage LED driver (ie transformer) will output exactly 12.0V DC. 12V LED spotlight bulbs and other 12V powered LED units can be connected in parallel to such a driver. Thanks to the parallel connections, if one bulb dies, the remaining bulbs will stay on.

A constant current LED driver will ouput a fixed current - and the lamps are conected in series.

You need to find out what sort you have and get the same for a replacement.
