My parents have been told by a couple of people (who we think are fairly competent on the Gas side but not Gas safe etc) that their fire is not very safe and it should not be used in the current state. They have not used it for a number of years now. The main issues raised were..

1) Gas pipe going through the wall is not sleeved in any way
2) No air bricks in the room

I've attached photos of the fire and flue etc.

They are going to be getting round a couple Gas Safe engineers to see what needs doing to make it safe to use again.
After having already been done over by the person who built/fitted it (20+ years ago) they would like to have an idea of what to expect in terms of what needs doing and ball park costs

Are the concerns raised by others valid. Any others you could see?

Thanks

Rob

Gas pipe sleeve can be fixed(its not a safety issue) as can the vents, if in fact it needs a vent which can only be determined by the manufacturers instructions.
If it hasn't been used for some years don't expect the fan and air proving switch to work without a bit of work and please remove those pine cones!
