Ground floor flat in shared tenement (Scotland), soil pipe shared with three flats above. Someone is flushing stuff that's not meant to be flushed and it sometimes causes a blockage at the bottom of the stack where sewage from above backs up into our toilet (and overflows into the bathroom - very nice).
I've had to get it cleared a number of times recently but it's happening too often now (third time this year) and I don't hold out much hope of appealing to folk to desist from flushing used johnnies etc.
Is there such a thing as a one-way flow fitting that I could use to prevent stuff backing in to my toilet when the stack is blocked? Might not be the most productive option as it would just send it further up the chain but it might be the only option in the long run.
