As before all this is theoretical at the moment.
All that is theoretical is the GP losing the sick note signing . ATOS pushing people onto Means Tested Benefits - IS in operation now  . So whether a GP or some whitehall lackey signs a person on/ off work is irrelevant - The disadvantaged are the targets - the bankers go free - or sold cheap to Dickie B.

....... and now the poor and disadvantaged pay the price... again

The "poor and disadvantaged" again, as opposed to the "rich and privileged". So that we don't fall into the easy trap of the rich having it all lashed onto a plate in front of them by right of birth, I bet that most of the despised "rich" have worked damn hard for what they have, and some may have risked everything they have had at certain points in their life. Branson - started his own record stall on a market. Bannatyne - had his mom's mates fill the beds of his first nursing home, so the bank would sign the cash over to him (something they wouldn't have done if the place had been half-empty). Yeah - jammy rich b#####ds

I have already said JSA and others are means tested already.

And yes the disadvantaged are again the targets.

Alarm,,,, Joe won't see anyone who's disabled as being" disadvantaged". He can't accept that someone incapable of working is just that. He accuses everyone (well at least 90%) on disability of being able to hold down a job (even though there's no work available for disadvantaged groups)
Joe want's to see those who need wheelchairs, or those that need a walking stick, to cast them aside "Rise up and work." (Perhaps he thinks he's the second coming of Christ)
I reckon Joe is the replacement for("Brother Lee Love."

I know, all you can do in a democracy is keep putting the truth in front of people and hope they have the capability of sometimes admitting they are incorrect occasionally.

Heres hoping......................

A lot of disabled people don't see themselves as disadvantaged though.
I know a guy with one arm and one leg who has worked all his life and claimed incapacity benefit. Or did. He could have survived well without it though I wouldn't be the one to tell him that.
Haven't been in contact with him for a while so his circumstances may have changed but you would insult him if you implied he was disadvantaged in any way.

You aren't getting it are you? A single mum often works and looks after her children - so what makes you any different? I keep asking you why you want the taxpayer to fund your vacuuming but you won't answer. It's only New Lab that put people on the 'sick' to keep them off the unemployment figures when it suited them. 30 years ago you wouldn't have got any money. It's just rolling back the silly New Lab policies that you are whining about. The uk is bust - and it's the benefit system that is doing it. It has to end - and it is ending. It's up to you keep your family and give the taxpayer a break.

Joe ...I think the danger is that you make sweeping statements to cover everyone on sickness benefit.

What about couples who have a large mortgage and require husband and wife to work, but one of them is taken sick and is genuinely unable to work. The one person cannot suddenly double their income and provide two wages.

Unfortunately we do not live in a perfect world and many people are just so admirable in their ability to cope with disability, surely to add a financial burden is like adding salt to a wound.

That's what insurance is for. You can't expect the taxpayer to pick up the tab for a million people with big mortgages. With the new rules on universal benefit it will be means tested anyway. So it's either you insure yourself - or downsize.

The trouble with that theory Joe is the more that the risk is loaded onto the insurance company the higher and more unaffordable the policies become.
