Paid holidays.

One of the reasons for going abroad used to be to see how different cultures lived. Luckily we have imported many of these cultures and have no need to travel far and wide to witness their lifestyles

SEE HOW THE DIFFERENT CULTURES LIVED!!!!!

I dont think so! The SUN :D the sand and the sea for me, if anything else was on offer then i would have obliged

If the UK is going bust - shouldn't annual leave be the first thing to go? The self employed don't get them. The things given in the good times should be withdrawn in the bad times. If the good times come back - then you get them back.

you simply need to be better organised, my wife is a self employed childminder, and you are right she doent get holiday pay, but what she does is divide what she wants to earn per child by 46 (the weeks she works) and put the equivalent away every week to draw a holiday pay when she is off, if you need any other help running your business i will ask her if she wants to help you

Also what has been missed here is most large businesses employ people. One of the benefits is holiday and sick pay. As they take the larger chunk of profits.
Go self employed, budget for as a few of us have said.
Saying that those people employed should forfeit their holidays is just a idle mind with nothing to do trying to cause an argument. And of no help to an industry or country.

I can't see MP's ever voting in a new law to stop employers paying holiday pay. After all they have the longest holidays of any group.
Summer?? 82days recess for Parliament (sadly cut short this year, the poor sods)

Here ya go. Have a look how many recesses they have.
http://www.parliament.uk/about/faqs/house-of-commons-faqs/business-faq-page/recess-dates/

And don't tell me that they all work in their constituencies during these recesses.

The House of Lords have even more too.

Well lets double the holiday entitlement then.

In this current economic climate can the UK afford to pay people to do nothing for weeks? If so - why are so many jobs being lost and people made redundant? Why wasn't there the same entitlement in the 1960s? Simple - we couldn't afford it. Same thing applies today - we can't afford it. Time to accept that.

So who , in the 60`s would have said that to Red Robbo and his mates @ Longbridge

Also it is the LAW that you have holidays.

Better get on to your local MP rather than being annoying here

Is there one saying they should not be?
But I think you will find they have to be paid :D

Then if you want more than allowed, they become unpaid.

But if its too hard to find,
The statutory requirement was extended on 1 April 2009 so that full-time employees are now entitled to 5.6 weeks’ paid holiday each year.

You aint gettin it are you? Politicians give away sweeties in the good times to get re-elected. In the bad times those sweeties need removing or the country goes bust. Wait for the IMF if you must.

Your not getting it are you.
Stop holidays and see what your union friends do to the country.

Shall we do as suggested elsewhere? Sack all the ones who want holidays and hire ones who do not, hey presto - all the unemployed stay at the same figure.

You aint gettin it - the UK is going bust. It can't afford the silly freebies that Gordie borrowed to give you and never paid it back.

Again you resort to assumptions.

Time you got a ass saver, its getting a good kicking tonight.

Look at the state of the economy - ask your mum to interpret it for you.

You really have a thing about my family, life in general.
Are you trying to tell everyone you fancy me?
